Most people think the holy grail of koi keeping (besides show-quality, healthy fish) is having an elegant outdoor water garden. But having an indoor koi pond or an indoor-outdoor pond is the ultimate koi delight. There can, however, be problems.
Koi take up a lot of space, so an indoor koi pond can be very expensive. More than that, though, koi are jumpers and splashers. So adding to the expense of construction and the loss of indoor floor space, there is the problem of keeping koi from either committing koi suicide by jumping out—or just splashing out a lot of water and ruining your floors.
One solution to preventing indoor water damage is to put a plexiglass railing (a low, clear wall) around your indoor pond, so you can see the fish but they can’t jump out or throw water on the floor.
